Overview of Large Suncoast Employers
When looking at the number of employees for the largest companies / employers here on the Suncoast, we can quickly see some repetitive data patterns. We can clearly see that the school districts, city and county governments for each respective county are typically the largest employers with upwards of 10,000 employees. We can also clearly see that the largest employers comprise the educational, public service and municipal government sectors. Other large employers also comprised the manufacturing, healthcare, retail or grocery sectors. Examples of large manufacturing employers included PGT Industries & Tropicana Products. Large Healthcare employers included Morton Plant Hospital and Sarasota Memorial Health Care. Large retail employers include Wal-Mart and Bealls. And last, but not least, large grocery employers include Publix and Sweetbay Supermarkets.
